Skate Shop Attendant, Olympic Oval, Faculty of Kinesiology

Position Overview

The Olympic Oval in the Faculty of Kinesiology is currently seeking several Recurring Part-time Skate Shop Attendants.

Be a part of a vibrant world class team!  Work in "Canada's Medal Factory" and help Canadian athletes make their mark! This position reports to the Skate Ship Coordinator in the Guest Services Office, and is responsible for ensuring the maintenance and quality of skates and equipment, processing of monetary transactions, selling merchandise, renting skates, organizing skates and providing excellent customer service.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Renting skates to customers during public skating sessions
  • Providing free helmet rentals to program participants
  • Providing hockey equipment rentals to hockey teams and intramural hockey teams
  • Accurately completing semester equipment rental forms or daily equipment rental forms as needed
  • Completing monetary transactions for equipment rentals, using a cash register and/or transelect machine
  • Maintaining rental equipment as required
  • Providing merchandise sale to customers when requested
  • Re-stocking merchandise when required
  • Maintaining an accurate inventory

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Your qualifications include experience in an athletic and/or office environment
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize
  • Experience in cash handling, and utilizing a POS system
  • Knowledge of speed skating and/or hockey is an asset
