Junior Tech Shop Technician, Olympic Oval, Faculty of Kinesiology

Position Overview

The Olympic Oval in the Faculty of Kinesiology is currently seeking several Recurring Part-time Junior Tech Shop Technicians.

Be a part of a vibrant world class team! Work in "Canada's Medal Factory" and help Canadian athletes make their mark. This position reports to the Skate Shop Coordinator, and is responsible for providing world class Speed skating and Hockey services with a focus towards long track speed skating and short track speed skating.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Provide world class technical services such as rockering, bending, blade runner, sharpening, skate repair
  • Ensure the quality of all products and services offered through the Skate Shop
  • Maintain a standard level of service that is provided to all users to ensure consistency
  • Ensure all machinery is maintained and cleaned regularly
  • Provide training and leadership to all Skate Shop staff
  • Operate the POS system for equipment rentals, merchandise and other monetary transactions
  • Respond accurately and professionally to general telephone, and in person inquiries and requests
  • Will also be required to act interchangeably with skate shop attendants

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Technical speed skating and/or hockey skate experience
  • One year as Skate Shop Attendant an asset
  • Experience in cash handling, and utilizing a POS system
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize
