Area: Data Scientist – Sport Biomechanics
Duration: One year – second year renewable
Start Date: Immediately
Annual Stipend: $48,000 plus benefits

The Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Data Analytics related to Sport Biomechanics in the Human Performance Laboratory.

Job Description:

The primary focus of the work will be data processing, data analytics research and innovation related to athletic equipment. The successful applicant will be involved in various projects related to:

  • designing systems related to athletic equipment and performance
  • analyzing large data sets
  • developing algorithms for wearable technology
  • developing innovative products in the sporting goods and health/wellness industries

Additional roles include leadership and active participation in project management activities including the administration of research projects, as well as some supervision of students.

Qualifications:

  • PhD or equivalent in Engineering, Biomechanics, Computer Science or a related field
  • Expertise in data analytics, IMU data processing, algorithm development related to human movement
  • Experience working with large data sets
  • Expertise with Matlab
  • Strong technical experience in kinematic and kinetic data collection systems
  • High level of effective organizational, time and personal initiative skills, teamwork, accuracy and strong attention to detail
